Sicily is, hands down, one of the most amazing places to which I’ve had the opportunity to travel. It ticks all the boxes: weather and gorgeous scenery, history, sightseeing, incredible food. You can sit on a secluded beach all day or stroll through an ancient village eating gelato. It was everything I love and more.
This is the *actual view* from the villa where we stayed. You can see Mt. Etna in the distance and across the sea, the city of Siracusa. For real. I never wanted to leave. I dream of going back.
Sicily HAD to be the subject of my first Gathering Guide. The food in this region of Italy is spectacular in the summer months. It just demands the kind of slow rolling, conversation filled evening I want to spend with friends. The presentation is straightforward but the recipes are bursting with flavor and the ingredients are high quality.
I pretty much ate my way through the trip, which is par for the course for me. My favorites were an incredible olive oil gelato that I’m still trying to replicate with little success, and an arancini that I’m still trying to replicate with little success.
So come along with me to Sicily through my first Gathering Guide. I’ll provide the recipes and all the details, all you need to do is cook and get some people to join you for the meal. And we can pretend together that we’re dining al fresco in Sicily!
